What our Guests Say….

Essentially French is a wonderful way to experience a taste of Provence. Our hosts, Susan and Brendan, went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their gorgeous historic home. As their guests we saw beautiful small villages and lovely countryside. Their local knowledge enabled us to discover vineyards, villages and natural sights. Highly recommend for a very easy, comfortable way for English speaking travellers to enjoy this beautiful part of France.

A Truly Unforgettable Week in Provence

We recently returned from the most magical week in Provence, hosted by the absolutely wonderful Susan and Brendan in their stunning 830-year-old home in Mazan. And honestly? We’re still floating on air.

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease—welcomed like old friends and instantly wrapped in the charm of their beautifully restored historic home. Every corner told a story, and yet it was also deeply comfortable, warm, and impeccably looked after. We’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it.

Susan and Brendan are hosts in the truest, most heartfelt sense of the word. Every detail was taken care of—we didn’t lift a finger. From the delicious meals (every single one was memorable!) to thoughtful touches in our rooms, and the perfectly curated outings, it was clear how much love and attention they pour into each guest’s experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

We adored our days visiting the most picturesque perched villages—each with its own character, winding lanes, and jaw-dropping views. But it was the rhythm of the days that made it so special: relaxed, never rushed, everything included, and no dreaded packing and unpacking. Just one glorious base in Mazan, and a new adventure each day.

The group was small and intimate, which made it so easy to connect. We shared stories, laughter, and clinked glasses with new friends we know we’ll stay in touch with.

We honestly cannot recommend this experience highly enough. If you're looking for something authentic, soulful, and stress-free in the heart of Provence, this is it. We left feeling completely nourished—body, mind, and spirit.

Thank you, Susan and Brendan. You’ve created something truly special.
